Eric Landsdown Dollhouse Cabinet

We're excited to announce we have acquired a RARE vintage hand-painted French Chateau style dollhouse cabinet by Eric Lansdown (c1980) which we'll putting up for auction on Thursday, November 7 2019 at 9am EST on Invaluable. The auction will end on Sunday, November 17th at 6pm EST.

The masterfully crafted three-piece whimsical wood cabinet consists of a table base and top cabinet with removable mansard roof.

The piece measures approximately 72” high (including both base and top cabinet) x 14” deep x 24” wide with silk screened glass windows and wrought iron copper balcony decoration.

Table base and cabinet exterior is painted in the Trumpe L’oeil style on all 4 sides possibly with the help of Eric's mother Carole Landsdown. Mansard roof with a connecting pair of chimneys contains an ornate window featuring architectural elements made of plaster. Inside of roof is painted to complement the rest of the cabinet and contains a hidden back door for easy access.

Front opening cabinet with hinged door reveals interior dollhouse with 6 rooms on 3 floors (bonus room attic under roof) and includes working doors, fireplace mantles, wood staircases and decorated walls and floors.

The vintage dollhouse cabinet is in good to very good vintage condition with no warping. Paint color finish is very good to excellent and is not faded. Wear and tear includes visible chips, some bending of metal balcony décor and plaster cracking on roof window architectural columns. Some of the interior wallpaper is peeling. Front door opens smoothly and closes evenly.

Fisher Price Dollhouse

The Fisher Price Play Family House (circa 1969) was THE dollhouse for young children from a different generation to have. It also may have been the very inspiration for those children becoming involved in the miniatures world as adults.

Fisher Price Dollhouse

The house was occupied by the Little People Family and arrived with a number of pieces of colorful plastic miniature furniture, most of which had slots to hold the Fishers safely in place. The family members almost always rolled clumsily off the beds which did not unfortunately have slots to hold the Little People in place.

Fisher Price Dollhouse

The Fishers were mostly made with wooden heads and bodies (no arms or legs...awkward!) along with plastic (or drawn) hair and other accessories. The family dog was the most awesome family member and had the most character and personality.

Fisher Price Dollhouse

The best accessory was the removable staircase which had an opening door on one side which led to either a closet or a bathroom, depending on your imagination. The front door had a working bell!

Fisher Price Dollhouse

The entire house opened to reveal two stories and four large rooms along with a garage and included a handle on top of the roof for easy transport.

Fisher Price Dollhouse

The second floor round carpet (illustration) was one of the more memorable design elements

If you're longing for a bit of nostalgia, this house is available on Etsy for $65 and can be ordered here.
