Master Class with IGMA Fellow Beth Freeman-Kane Saturday October 15

Thomas Doyle Hudson River Museum If the Creek Don't Rose

Spend an amazing day at D. Thomas Fine Miniatures on Saturday, October 15 and create this Box Framed Blue Jay with wildlife miniaturist Beth Freeman-Kane. This is a rare NY area/east coast opportunity to study with Ms. Freeman-Kane who calls beautiful South Africa her home.

All materials will be provided, including the bird casting (from Beth's original sculpture) and the complete framing kit for you to create a high quality piece of fine art ready to hang in your home or office.

Students will learn acrylic painting techniques specific to 'objects in the round' to be able bring the Blue Jay to life. This will be followed by basic assembly inside the box and then learning some fun tricks with the autumn maple leaves. Aging, weathering and color translucency will all be explored in the process.

Beth is a patient, 'hands on' teacher and very willing to work with all students of varying skill levels and confidence. Loads of fun and project satisfaction is guaranteed :-).

Useful tools to bring (but don't worry if you don't have..): fine tweezers, small sharp scissors, stylus or burnishing tool and craft knife. Also highly recommended for this fine work is magnification and a work light, (optional according to individual comfort level).

We'll break for lunch. There are a number of restaurant and food options nearby.

Cost: $180.00

Call 914-231-9871 to secure a space or go online here to purchase the class. For more information about Ms. Freeman's exhibition in the Gallery and our Open House to celebrate her new work, click here.
